Tributes have flooded social media after the passing of actor Eric Dane, best known for his iconic roles in Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria. The Hollywood star died at the age of 53 following a battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease he publicly revealed in 2025.
Friends, co-stars and fans have shared heartfelt messages remembering the actor’s talent and kindness. Ashton Kutcher paid tribute online, while Euphoria creator Sam Levinson described working with Dane as an honour and said “being his friend was a gift.” Alyssa Milano also reflected on his sharp humour and the lasting impact he had on those around him.
Dane gained worldwide recognition as Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, later appearing in hit series like Euphoria and The Last Ship. Beyond acting, he became a passionate advocate for ALS awareness, using his platform to support research and encourage others facing the illness.
According to his family, he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, including his wife and two daughters. As the acting world continues to mourn, many have praised his legacy not only as a performer but as a friend, father and fighter who inspired those around him
