The streets of Buñol were covered in red as around 20,000 people took part in Spain’s famous La Tomatina festival.
Approximately 165 tonnes of overripe tomatoes were unloaded into the town before participants spent just over an hour throwing them at one another.
The annual celebration takes place on the final Wednesday of August and is widely described as the world’s largest food fight.
Participants are instructed to squash the tomatoes before throwing them to reduce the risk of injury. Once the fight ends, the streets are washed down and festivalgoers head to designated areas to clean themselves.
Would you take part in the world’s biggest tomato fight?
