A new study suggests that when it comes to negotiations, people would rather strike a deal with women.
Researchers analysed five separate studies involving more than 2,400 participants and found that men and women achieved similar financial outcomes during negotiations. However, women consistently received higher ratings for trust, fairness, communication and overall rapport. Participants also said they were more willing to negotiate with women again in the future.

Interestingly, the advantage wasn’t linked to women accepting worse deals. Instead, researchers found they created a more positive negotiation experience while achieving similar economic results to men. Computer modelling even suggested these positive experiences could lead to significantly more future negotiation opportunities over time.
The findings highlight that successful negotiation isn’t only about the final outcome, but also about the relationships built during the process.
