Katy Perry reveals special story behind her Isle of MTV Malta outfit

Katy Perry has revealed a special throwback detail about the outfit she wore during her recent Isle of MTV Malta performance.

The superstar shared that her stage look actually came from an MTV VMAs commercial dating all the way back to 2009, giving fans a major dose of nostalgia.

But the timing made the outfit even more meaningful.

Perry pointed out that her Malta performance fell on July 22, exactly 17 years after she taped her MTV Unplugged special in 2009.

Sharing the coincidence with fans, she joked that July 22 might officially be her ultimate MTV day.

The singer recently took to the Isle of MTV stage in Malta as part of the massive annual music event, performing in front of thousands of fans.

With a look pulled straight from her MTV history, the Malta show ended up becoming a full-circle moment for the pop star.
