Emma Roberts To Star In New Bride Wars TV Series Reimagining

todayMarch 2, 2026

Background

A fresh take on the iconic rom-com Bride Wars is officially in development, with Emma Roberts set to lead a new television adaptation.

Unlike the original 2009 film starring Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson, the upcoming series will follow rival wedding planners instead of duelling brides. Roberts will play a big city planner who moves to a small North Carolina town, sparking a fierce professional showdown with a beloved local organiser as they compete to plan the same wedding.

The project is described as a loose reimagining rather than a direct remake, with Emmy winning writer Sascha Rothchild attached as creator and executive producer. Roberts will also serve as an executive producer through her production company Belletrist.

The series is still in development and has not yet received an official order or additional casting announcements, but the news has already sparked mixed reactions online, with some fans excited to revisit the beloved rom-com world while others question whether Hollywood needs another reboot.
