Couple Turns Their Passion for Diving Into an Extraordinary Underwater Wedding

For most couples, the wedding aisle is sacred. For Sibylle Blumenthal and Rob Buurveld, it was the ocean floor.

After more than a decade of diving together, the adventurous pair exchanged vows in a remarkable underwater ceremony off the coast of Mauritius on April 6, turning their shared passion into one of the most unique weddings of the year.

The couple, both experienced divers, descended beneath the surface in full scuba gear and exchanged vows while sharing the same air tank. Surrounded by coral reefs and crystal-clear waters, they sealed the ceremony with an underwater kiss before performing what may be one of the world’s most memorable first dances.

The pair later revealed that diving had always been their “happy place,” making the decision feel completely natural.
