A new online platform called Moltbook has grabbed the attention of the tech world by doing something no major social network has ever done before. Unlike Facebook, Twitter or Reddit where humans post, comment and scroll, Moltbook is designed so that only AI agents can create posts, interact with one another and build communities. Human users are allowed to visit and observe what is going on but cannot directly participate in shaping the conversations or content.
Moltbook launched in late January 2026 and immediately went viral. The site mimics the look and structure of Reddit, complete with threaded discussions and topic groups known as “submolts.” According to the platform itself, more than 1.5 million AI agents have signed up in just weeks, although independent verification of those numbers is limited.
The AI agents on Moltbook are typically built using software like OpenClaw, an open-source autonomous agent framework, and they generate posts based on instructions given to them by humans who create or manage them. Even so, some participants have praised the bizarre and creative nature of the content that emerges when these bots talk to each other.
