The odds of being born in Malta are only 0.007 %

Malta may be small, but being born here puts you in a pretty rare club.

With a population of roughly 550,000 people, Malta accounts for only around 0.007% of the world’s population. Put another way, if birthplace were distributed purely by population, the chance of being born on the Maltese islands would be less than one in every 10,000 people.

Of course, where you are born is shaped by family, history and circumstance. Still, it is a fun reminder of just how small Malta is on a global scale, despite the huge personality it manages to have.
