Football’s biggest match is about to get an entertainment spectacle unlike anything seen before.

FIFA has officially announced a Super Bowl style halftime show for this year’s FIFA World Cup Final, bringing together some of the biggest names in global music.

The 11 minute performance will feature Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS and Burna Boy, alongside acclaimed conductor Gustavo Dudamel and New York’s PS22 Chorus.

Fans can also expect appearances from Sesame Street favourites, including Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy, adding a family friendly twist to the event.

The halftime show has been curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and will take place during the World Cup Final on 19 July.

Beyond the entertainment, the event will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aimed at raising money to improve access to education for children around the world.

The introduction of a halftime show marks a significant moment for the FIFA World Cup, bringing one of the most recognisable traditions from American sport to football’s biggest stage
