Bridgerton Season 5 Teaser Reveals First Queer Love Story

The teaser for Bridgerton Season 5 has unveiled a major first for the series, with a central queer romance at the heart of the upcoming storyline.

The new season will follow Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd, and her relationship with Michaela Stirling, portrayed by Masali Baduza. Their connection develops following the death of Francesca’s husband, introducing a more emotional and complex narrative.

This marks a departure from Julia Quinn’s original novels, where the character was written as Michael Stirling, reflecting the show’s continued focus on modern and inclusive storytelling.

While Bridgerton has touched on sexuality before, this will be the first time a same-sex relationship takes centre stage. Season 5 is currently in production, with no official release date confirmed yet.
